Equipment Underwriting



N-1 Capital’s Equipment Underwriting Service allows our clients to increase new financings while simultaneously reducing risk by incorporating N-1 Capital’s equipment market expertise into the underwriting of the hard assets. The current business and economic climate is making it more and more difficult for equipment lenders to lend money to businesses for the purchase of hard assets (property, plant and equipment). Moreover, the traditional credit underwriting methodology does not adequately incorporate the value of the underlying collateral in the lending equation. Knowing the value of the equipment being financed and, more importantly, the ability to actually realize that value is now fundamental to attract capital to those assets in today’s business environment.

N-1 Capital’s Equipment Underwriting Service leverages our decades of experience in originating and managing over $5 Billion in equipment financings. This service allows our customers to fully understand all the dynamics of specific equipment markets and provides them equipment valuations and strategies that will limit our client’s exposure on their equipment finance portfolios. Our approach is to incorporate N-1 Capital’s Equipment Value Indices (EVI) into the credit model to eliminate a portion of the overall risk. These EVI’s are derived by our equipment product managers reviewing and actively participating and investing in hundreds of millions of dollars in equipment transactions each year. Having a portion of the credit exposure reduced by actual equipment values allows our clients to creatively and reliably lend more with less risk.
